ThermoChem, en US, está buscando un candidato para el cargo de Químico de Campo (Field Chemist). Thermochem ofrece servicios de ingeniería química, análisis de laboratorio, geoquímica, testeo de campo y productos para un amplio rango de industrias del sector energía y de la geotermia.

El cargo es de tiempo completo, el candidato reportará al Gerente de Servicios de Campo y de Productos de la empresa.

Summary of the Position

Under general supervision assists with field projects, performs sampling functions and maintains field equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Sampling: Performs field sampling functions including sample bottle preparation, sample collection and sample shipping; maintains detailed field notes and field safety records, sample chain-of-custody and sample shipping paperwork; conducts basic field chemistry analysis such as pH, ion-specific electrode, and spectrophotometric measurements for tracer; designs and executes field experiments in support of field method development; reads, writes, and interprets standard operation procedures, emails, and documentation to ensure safe and efficient collection of high-quality samples; maintains field chemistry hygiene; follows sampling procedures to prevent contamination; communicates with clients and company management to ensure collection of all samples requested by the client.

Equipment: Maintains field sampling equipment such as miniseparators, hoses, condensers, probes, hand tools and pressure/temperature sensors; participates in the design, construction, and testing of field-related instrumentation; operates field sampling equipment including sensors, motors, pumps, measurement and test equipment (M&TE) in support of sampling operations; performs routine maintenance and repair of field sampling apparatus (notifies supervisor when it becomes necessary to replace equipment that has become unsafe or non-operational); maintains inventory of field sampling tools, instruments, sampling bottles and equipment.

Safety: Ensures safety and quality control standards are met and properly documented; works safely in close proximity to hazardous chemicals, high pressure and temperature conditions, as well as power plant electrical and industrial hazards; performs all work in compliance with relevant environmental permits and regulations.

Miscellaneous: Performs other assigned duties and tasks as required.

Skills Advancement: Develops additional skills as directed by supervisor.

Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Education/Experience: Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

1. Minimum four-year degree in chemistry, geology, or other physical science; and
2. At least five years work experience in the geothermal industry or other similar field.

Knowledge: Experience with instrumentation, equipment assembly, and computer programming.

Skills: Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must have good interpersonal skills in order to communicate rapidly and effectively within the organization and to represent the company in a professional manner to clients, suppliers and visitors. Works with a high degree of selfdirection and independent judgment. Must be team-oriented, flexible, and able to meet tight deadlines.

Work Hours and Travel: Works overtime and varying hours, including frequent and extended assignments to remote work sites; frequent travel within the United States and abroad.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 70 lbs. and to push/pull up to 100 lbs; job involves sitting, lifting, bending, climbing, twisting, reaching, walking, standing and repetitive motion; extensive computer work; driving of company vehicles and operation of equipment and machinery; frequent and extended periods of international travel through multiple time zones; must adhere to attendance requirements as stated in the policy handbook.

Working Conditions: Exposure to chemicals, fumes and gases; use of safety equipment; exposure to marked change in temperature, works outdoors in all weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat; works in a variety of settings, from green-field exploration, drilling, and well-testing, to fully operational power plants.

Licenses: Possession of a valid class C motor vehicle operator’s license, and willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment. Valid passport.
