Isla Dominica, la geotermia supondrá un ahorro del 40%

El Gobierno de Dominica ha asegurado a los ciudadanos que gracias a la geotermia sus facturas se reducirán en un 40 %.

El ministro de Energía de la Isla Dominica, Rayburn Blackmore, está considerando construir una planta de 10 a 15 MW en un futuro próximo ya que la isla busca desarrollar fuentes alternativas de energía.

“Nos comprometemos a añadir a nuestra cartera de energía, la energía geotérmica. Nuestra matriz energética consta de un 40 % de hidráulica y el restante 70 % procede de combustibles fósiles.”

“Durante este período fiscal se va a construir una pequeña planta de 10 a 15 megavatios para hacer frente a nuestra oferta local en Dominica para asegurarnos de que baje el precio de la electricidad”

“Hemos realizado un estudio y analizado todas las variables, por lo que una planta de 10 a 15 megavatios puede suponer un ahorro de un 40 % en nuestras facturas de luz suponiendo un beneficio de más de US$ 6 millones.”
